Hang in there!
Hang in there!
We are coming to the end of the year. It is usually holiday time, with a lot of shopping and travel to families and friends. It’s also a time when people reflect on what happened during the year.
To some, the year might have felt fulfilled; sadly, for others, that is not the case. While some enjoy reunions and family celebrations, others dread this season. There is nowhere to go or family to talk to. Some have lost every member of their family, are sick, in prison, in wartime and are dying, and some don’t know where their relatives are. The streets are deserted; they eat their dinners alone, buy their own gifts, and mail them to themselves, for those who have the money. They hear laughter from the neighbouring houses and are readying themselves for the stories in the first week back at work.
The elderly who are victims of this type of situation are in regret, the young are crying in hopelessness, disappointment, let down, abandoned and distressed by what goes on in their heads.
In some villages and towns, the kids watch the wealthy lavish the food they wish they could have a plate of. The feeling of inequality widens. Whatever the reason for any sadness or unfulfillment, hang in there! It is the end of a worn-out year, and a new beginning is at the door.
Most celebrations this season are empty because the Chief Celebrant is not invited. If people celebrate once a year, what should be celebrated daily. Then they are scratching the surface and are nowhere near the main deal.
Now look at it this way, the real celebration is knowing why you are celebrating. There are immutable truths that cannot be changed, so our concern should be to get it right, and everything shall fall into place.
Then,
